Keynote - Miele - Sustainability in times of multiple crises: Taking over responsibility by balancing economic, social and ecological action
Since the beginning of the millennium, societies, economies, and the earth itself have been subject to disruptions of increasing frequency and severity. Each evolves differently from the others, but many disruptions have overlapping consequences that can be long lived and are not completely understood at the time of impact. The context within which these disruptions occur, furthermore, is an ever-present climate crisis, whose effective mitigation will require a global transition to a low-carbon economy. And this at a time when companies, despite a multitude of challenges and uncertainties with which they are confronted, actually have to invest even more in the topic of sustainability, establish new business models and test completely new approaches. Rebecca Steinhage will give an overview of what this means for a family-owned company like Miele, what answers the household appliance company has to these challenges and what significant role employees do play in this endeavour.
