Pauline Benthede

Pauline Benthede is a Stockholm-based curator and arts leader with a lifelong passion for photography and visual culture. She played a key role in launching Fotografiska Stockholm in 2010 and spent eight years shaping the museum’s acclaimed exhibition programme.

Since 2018, she has led Fotografiska’s international exhibition strategy, overseeing the curatorial vision across all global locations. As Chair of the Fotografiska Exhibition Committee, she steers the creative development of exhibitions spanning contemporary, documentary, fashion, and socially engaged photography.

Known for championing both emerging and established voices, Pauline has worked with artists including Shirin Neshat, Andres Serrano, David LaChapelle, Anton Corbijn, Sally Mann, Shepard Fairey, and Sebastião Salgado. Under her leadership, Fotografiska exhibitions have toured to 70+ venues across Europe and North America, fostering collaborations with leading institutions and galleries. She holds a BFA in Photography from the University of Gothenburg and has pursued further studies in curating, photography history, and visual arts at Stockholm University, Umeå University, and Kulturama. Pauline regularly serves on juries for organisations including the Hasselblad Foundation, Leica Oskar Barnack Award, LensCulture, and Fresh Eyes. In 2024, she was appointed to the Board of Fotografiska Stockholm.
