Dr. Peter Siebert

Peter Siebert received an MSc degree in 1984 and a PhD degree in 1989 in physics from the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. He also holds a Diplom Kaufmann degree in economics from the Fernuniversität Hagen, Germany, and an MBA degree from The Open University, Milton Keynes, U.K. Since May 2009, Siebert has been with the DVB Project Office, Geneva, Switzerland, where he is responsible for all technology-related aspects of the DVB organization. Prior to his work with DVB, he was with Philips Kommunikations AG (PKI AG), Nürnberg, Germany; Société Européenne des Satellites (SES)-ASTRA, Luxembourg, U.K.; and Siemens Schweiz AG, Zürich, Switzerland. In his professional career, he has been working on all aspects of audio–video transmissions such as video transmission over telecommunication networks, satellite, and Internet Protocol television (IPTV) networks. Siebert has been responsible for a number of European Telecommunications Standards Institute specifications in the area of satellite transmission as well as for DVB standards. He holds several patents for various aspects of audiovisual data transmission.
