In this year’s edition, experts emphasise that true innovation must be self-reliant, eco-friendly, and indispensable, driving both industry transformation and global competitiveness. Acting as an international bridge, the award fosters cross-industry collaboration and positions China as a leader in household appliance technologies on the world stage.
Q: Innovation Award has gathered numerous industry innovation achievements. How do we define and identify true pioneering innovations that possess market value in the current context emphasising green and low-carbon, intelligent connectivity, and health and comfort among other diverse needs? What roles will these achievements play in the cultivation of new quality productive forces with global competitiveness?
A: From my perspective, true pioneering innovation must cross over the technological plateau, the user deep water zone and the sustainability gap simultaneously, with its core standards summarised into three dimensions.
Technological autonomy and breakthrough. Whether the innovation is a pioneering breakthrough in key areas? Is it a breakthrough in core cutting-edge technology? Or, has it applied new materials or new structure?
Capability of user value reconstruction. Has it opened new scenarios or reshaped user experience, such as providing AI proactive service, or achieving invisible technology through senior-friendly design?
Dual sustainability in terms of green and business. Is the innovation low-carbon during the entire lifecycle? Is it able to stimulate the establishment of a new business model and promote the upgrade of the industrial chain? Can it provide new direction for the high-quality development of the industry?
In short, innovation defined by us should be hardcore achievement that can meet four critical indicators simultaneously: Is the technology self-reliant and controllable? Is it indispensable for users? Is it friendly to the Earth? And is its commercial growth sustainable? This precisely represents the essential requirement of new quality productive forces for the household appliance industry. The innovations that reach the world through our event are the concrete carriers of new quality productive forces in the household appliance industry, bearing the responsibilities of breaking through growth ceilings, restructuring global competitiveness, and activating industrial ecosystems.
Q: Innovation acts as the key engine while China is committed to transforming from a major country of household appliance production to a major power of household appliance technologies. How do you think to construct an efficient and collaborative innovation ecosystem with global leadership for the household appliance industry? As an important connector and enabler, how will the China Household Appliance Innovation Award play a better role of platform in future?
A: It is a systematic project that requires continuous iteration and dynamic evolution to establish an efficient and collaborative innovation ecosystem with global leadership for the household appliance industry. Entrepreneurs in the new era need to drive the innovation ecosystem to a higher level with stronger innovative spirit, responsibility, and commitment: On one hand, to deepen technological inclusiveness, allowing innovations to benefit more families worldwide; on the other hand, to strengthen ethical governance to ensure that emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence adhere to the principle of technology for good while promoting ecological openness and breaking down technological barriers to achieve cross-brand, cross-industry, and cross-regional collaborative innovation. China Household Appliance Innovation Award will continue to play the role of an international bridge, not only showcasing China’s outstanding innovations from the household appliance industry, but also absorbing global cutting-edge concepts and technologies actively, and promoting deep integration among industry, academia, research and application and international collaborative innovation.
