Wertgarantie and Der WERTGARANT at IFA

One tonne of tech waste, one powerful message

Every 90 seconds, Germany produces one tonne of electronic waste. Devices that just yesterday were part of everyday life, smartphones, monitors, vacuum cleaners, mixers – now broken, outdated or simply discarded.

But how do you grasp a number like that? And how do you show the real impact? The materials lost, the environmental cost, the consequences for the future?

You make it impossible to ignore.

Enter Der WERTGIGANT: a six-metre-high sculpture made entirely of real e-waste. One tonne of discarded electronics. Towering, confronting, unmissable. Presented at IFA 2025 in Hall 25 at booth 259.

The piece was created by renowned German action artist HA Schult, best known for his global Trash People installations. Commissioned by specialist insurer Wertgarantie, Der WERTGIGANT is a powerful call for more sustainable electronics use and a conversation starter about the true cost of tech.
