Wertgarantie & WERTGIGANT go IFA
One tonne of electronic waste, one powerful message
Every 90 seconds, German households produce one tonne of electronic waste. Devices that just yesterday were part of everyday life, smartphones, monitors, vacuum cleaners, mixers – now broken, outdated or simply discarded.
But how do you grasp a number like that? And how do you show the real impact? The materials lost, the environmental cost, the consequences for the future?
You make it impossible to ignore!
Enter the WERTGIGANT: a six-metre-high sculpture made entirely of real e-waste. One tonne of discarded electronics. Towering, confronting, unmissable. Presented at IFA 2025 in Hall 25 at booth 259.
The piece was created by renowned German performance artist HA Schult, best known for his global Trash People installations. Commissioned by specialist insurer Wertgarantie, the WERTGIGANT is a powerful call for more sustainable electronics use and a conversation starter about the true cost of tech.
Bonus content: Panel on the Right to Repair
On 6 September at 04:15 pm, Wertgarantie will also host a panel on the Dream Stage in Hall 25. The focus: Europe’s planned “Right to Repair” legislation. Experts will share current research findings and discuss how this shift could reshape the future of product design, warranties and consumer responsibility.
