Franziska Brantner

Franziska Brantner is Co-Chair of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN (Alliance 90/The Greens) and a member of the German Bundestag.

Franziska Brantner was born in 1979 in Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg. She studied political science and earned her doctorate at the University of Mannheim on the reform capacity of political institutions. Before entering active politics, Franziska Brantner worked at the Bertelsmann Foundation in Brussels in the field of European foreign and security policy. From 2009, she spent four years as a Member of the European Parliament, where she contributed her expertise particularly in the area of foreign policy. In 2013, she was elected to the German Bundestag for the Heidelberg Neckar-Bergstraße constituency. In the Bundestag, Franziska Brantner served, among other roles, as her parliamentary group's spokesperson for children's and family policy, and later for European policy. From 2021 to May 2025, she served as Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Since November 2024, she has been Co-Chair of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN.
