Dr Jens Baas joined the Executive Board of Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) in 2011 and has served as its Chairman since 2012. With more than 12 million members, TK is Germany’s largest statutory health insurance fund. Dr Baas is responsible for the areas of corporate development, finance and controlling, information technology, brand and marketing, policy and communications, as well as supervisory board and executive leadership matters. Before taking on the role of CEO, he worked at the Boston Consulting Group, most recently as Partner and Managing Director. A recognised expert on the German healthcare system and statutory health insurance, his consulting focus included healthcare providers, the pharmaceutical sector, and the medical technology industry. He studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Minnesota (USA), and went on to practise as a physician at the university hospitals in Heidelberg and Münster.
