Paul Schweidler is an i/o psychologist and expert in the acceptance and perception of robots, for example by consumers in everyday life. He has been working on interdisciplinary projects with a focus on technology transfer and application research at HFC Human-Factors-Consult GmbH since 2018. He currently heads the rokit competence cluster for robotics in public spaces, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

In the panel discussion ‘Binary Hearts: When Algorithms Become Companions’ on Friday, 5 September, at 1 p.m. in the Palais am Funkturm, experts will discuss how emotional our relationship with household robots is – and what consequences this has for acceptance, expectations and ethics. The discussion will be based on an international consumer survey conducted by GFU and Oliver Wyman on the bonds between humans and smart assistants.
