Pinar Atalay, born in 1978, grew up as the daughter of a working-class family in Extertal, in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region. She became widely known through the main news broadcasts on NDR Television, the political talk show "phoenix Runde," and the ARD business magazine "plusminus." She was the first woman with Turkish roots to present the ARD "tagesthemen" news programme.
Since August 2021, Pinar Atalay has been Lead Journalist at RTL, where she presented the news show RTL Direkt for four years until 2025, and co-hosted the Quadrell alongside Günther Jauch in February 2025.
Since October 2025, she has been hosting her own political talk show, "Pinar Atalay," every two weeks on the news channel ntv, while continuing as part of the presenting team at RTL Aktuell.
