If you want to understand what technology can do tomorrow, you have to be at IFA. For our editorial team, it is both a must-attend event and a source of inspiration - IFA 2026 proved once again that Berlin is the home of the consumer tech industry.
IFA has always been a place where the technology industry comes together to imagine what’s next. This year, I felt something bigger: a sense that we are entering a new era, where AI is becoming part of how people live, create, and experience the world around them. What inspired me most was seeing that possibility come to life across the ecosystem, and ultimately in the hands of the people and businesses who will experience it firsthand. The real power of technology has never been simply what we can build, but what it enables people to dream, create, and achieve. That is what makes this moment so exciting, and I believe we are only beginning to see how far human imagination can take us.
At trade shows, the focus is often on things being ‘faster, bigger, and better’. For us, however, it is at least equally important to understand what people really expect from products in their everyday lives. Above all, IFA is an extremely valuable platform for genuine dialogue – with retailers, industry partners, and the people who ultimately use our products. It is precisely these conversations that help us at Metz to rethink technology in meaningful ways and develop products that impress not only at the trade show, but also at home.
