Maximilian Neretin

Maximilian Neretin (b. 1999) is an artist and photographer from Hamburg, Germany, with Russian roots. His work investigates the shifting boundaries between humans and machines, science fiction imaginaries, his Russian heritage and systems of control and suppression. Working across sound, text, installation and photography, he constructs speculative environments that question technological authority and political narratives.

He completed his BA in Visual Design, with a focus on photography, in 2024 at HAW Hamburg. He is currently pursuing his MA in Photography at ÉCAL, Lausanne. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, HAU Theater and Millerntor Gallery.
