Dr. Volker Zota

During his youth and whilst studying physics, Dr Volker Zota devoured everything he could find on the subject of computers. After completing his PhD, his hobby became his profession – initially as an editor at Data Becker’s *PC Intern*, and from July 2000 at *c’t*. There, amongst other things, he founded the (former) Audio/Video section and helped to build up the online video section and social media. As these topics were better suited to the internet than to the print magazine, he gradually shifted his focus towards heise online over the years. He has been leading heise medien as editor-in-chief since January 2024, and has launched the digital subscription service heise+ – covering IT and technology – as well as various other projects, such as the news podcast “kurz informiert”.
