Heikedine Körting
Die Drei ???
Heikedine Körting (born 18 June 1945 in Jena) is known as the ‘Queen of Radio Plays’ and is Germany’s most successful radio play producer. After studying law in Geneva and Hamburg and working initially as a lawyer, she discovered the medium of the radio play through her future husband, the founder of EUROPA, Dr Andreas E. Beurmann (d. 2016). In 1969, she wrote her first scripts for the EUROPA label, before taking sole responsibility for direction and production from 1973 onwards. With cult series such as Hanni and Nanni, The Famous Five, TKKG and, above all, The Three Investigators, she left her mark on generations of listeners. For her body of work, comprising over 3,000 radio plays, she was awarded more than 300 gold and platinum records and held an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
Alongside her work at EUROPA, Körting is committed to promoting culture: together with her husband, she transformed the Hasselburg estate into a cultural centre and founded a radio play museum, which has been based at the Palais Bellevue in Kassel since 2023. In 2022, she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for her cultural achievements. To mark her 80th birthday in 2025, her biography *Heikedine Körting – The Queen of Radio Plays* was published.
